I'm going to try to document my monthly socks in order to keep myself on task.
For January, I'm actually going to knit the Log Cabin Socks (from the book Handknit Holidays) that I started for my boyfriend in maybe October. He started a new job, and he's been around the house a lot more than he used to be, so I ran out of time to knit them for him in secret. I had to show him the half finished sock and a picture of the finished product on Christmas morning. So sad.
I'm about halfway through the first one, maybe 4 or 5 rows before starting the heel flap. I'm going to count them for January though, because I can't start another pair until I finish his gift, and I've still got Juliet on the needles, and hopes to do some colorwork mittens before it's too warm to wear them.
I'm having a lot of fun thinking about all the socks I want to make this year though. I've got one skein each of Shibui plum and blue and I'm going to do a pair of Fred & George socks. Then I found some Tofutsies on sale the other day to make some Kaibashiras. I got some pretty, dark plum-burgundy this summer for some Twisted Flower socks, and I ended up with some Trekking XXL that I got in a swap which I think will become Jaywalkers. I plan to make some Bellatrix (PDF) with my Wollmeise Poison No 5, just like these on Ravelry. And I've got some pink Smooshy, which might become some Daisy socks, or maybe something else. I'd love to make myself some knee socks, like the HJS pattern, or maybe some Clessidras. I want some warm wintery socks, like the Tyrolean Stockings from the Fall isse of Interweave Knits, and maybe some cute slippers to wear in the summer, like Twinkletoes. Also of note: Snowflake Lace Socks, Baudelaire (I figure if it's a year of socks, I'm going to have to try toe-up at some point), Slippery Socks (in case I find any super crazy colorways I have to try), Jack Sparrow's Favorite Socks, and maybe more Monkeys since those are still my favorites.
As you can see, I won't have trouble coming up with 12 sock projects. :)
And if I somehow got to try some of the new STR Raven Clan colorways along that way, that'd be icing on the cake.
