I finally broke down and opened an etsy shop. I was thinking that it might be nice to have a little extra cash, and remembered that I had made up a few purses to test out some of my patterns. They were just sitting in a rubbermaid bin, so I opened it up to see what was in there, and found some really cute purses. I kind of got off track with building my own site, darling-starling.com, because I got bogged down by integrated shopping carts and rules about business practices in my city and figuring out how to make labels and stuff. I forgot that I LIKE making purses, and that my purses are cute. Not only that, but they're solid. I've seen a lot of shoddy workmanship in internet shops, but these are sturdy, with interfacing and plastic bottoms to prevent sagging. I may try to include magnetic snaps or zippers in future designs, and maybe those little studs on the bottom to keep your purse off the floor, but I seriously love my purses. I listed 2 so far on my shop, but if the gray spiderweb purse doesn't sell, I'd be happy to carry it myself when we go on vacation in a few weeks.

Now I'm all inspired again. darlingstarlingshop.etsy.com, if you're intersted. I'm sure I need to write some better descriptions, and I need a decent banner and things. But, I figured it'd be best to get something up now, before I lose my nerve again.

Who knows if anything will sell, but it was exciting when I looked a minute ago and had 10 views on one of the purses.

Also, in other news, I joined my first secret swap on LJ and it officially starts tonight. I can't wait to get my partner's info so I can start shopping for her. It's a knitting/crochet swap, 3 packages in 3 months, and I've never done one before so I'm getting all geeky and excited about it. :)
