Thrummed Mittens

Comments

Ahh! LOL! Not quite, I haven't been nearly as productive as you have been. I can start Monday though, after Rhinebeck. =)
OH NO! I thought that I was holding you up, so I was hurrying. So far all I've done besides a gauge swatch is to make billions of thrums. I have more fleece to go today, and then maybe I'll just put it aside and work on one of my UFOs until Monday too. How does that sound?
Sounds like a plan! I'll see if I can't get my thrums made by then. I haven't swatched, but who needs swatches? I might dig out the same pattern I used for my grandmother's thrummed mitts, those turned out well enough.
I have to confess, I started mine Monday night. I couldn't help myself. I just put the thumb stitches on scrap yarn, so I'm not super far, but...they were so pretty and just staring right AT me.

Did you start yet?
I didn't, I'm terrible!

Actually, I've been having a crazy week, and was going to email you when I got home tonight (which is now) to tell you that probably you should just go on without me, lol. My first knitalong failure!
Aww. That's ok. But you should still knit them when you can so we can share pictures!
Oh I will! I will wear them this winter!
I've been putting mine on as I've been knitting it. The thrums are SUPER soft. I wish I could just make a whole thrummed body suit! My hands are going to be so warm this winter!
I'll pass on the thrummed body suit, but I'm excited for the mittens! Which pattern are you using?
I ended up using the pattern from Kalamazoo Knits that I linked to. I like the added purl bump, and the fact that they have a real thumb gusset and not one of those afterthought thumbs.
