I finally took my sewing machine in today to have the tension/timing problem taken care of. Sadly, the tune-up costs around $70, and he said it might be more if it needs any replacement parts or anything. That's way more than I was expecting. An oil change on my car only costs $30! Bummer.

I'm excited to finally have it back and working right though. 7-10 days. Which of course makes me want to sew really badly right now. Stupid waiting.

I bought a sewing machine repair manual because my machine wants to go to the shop too damn often. I took it in once for a much needed timing adjustment, and a few months later it was acting up again. I got another few months out of it, and it locked up completely. I've vowed to study the repair manual from first page to last before I take it into the shop again. I've worked on cars and computers, I should be able to fix a simple, mechanical machine. ...In the mean time though, I occasionally get such an urge to sew that I weaken in my resolve and just want someone to fix the damn thing already! It's a heavy-duty school model with all metal gears, so I should be able to figure this out. grrr...
